History

A long experience: The history

Water is a fragile environment, which must be protected and carefully managed. This is one of the reasons that pushed Voies Navigables de France to sign, in 1999, the sustainable development charter for large public companies.

In 2004, Voies Navigables de France committed to the development of environmental management systems (EMS) in accordance with the ISO 14001 international standard. At all stages of the certified activity, they ensure a minimisation of environmental impact.

Thus, at the NE Dept., the bank protection and renovation activities successfully passed the ISO 14001 certification audits in January 2005 then each year up until today. This external recognition is the fruit of a pro-active approach embraced by all the personnel.

With almost 20 years of experience, this know-how is thus recognised at national level and is based on vegetation-based techniques for bank protection.

Lastly, in 2010, the North-East Dept. aims to extend its environmental policy by taking better account of the economic and social aspects, in a spirit of sustainable development.
